My creative journey started as a young girl sewing doll clothes on my mom’s sewing machine. As a teenager I was introduced to quilt making and set up a small quilt frame in my basement where I tied my first quilts and gave them to friends and family as gifts. My love for sewing and quilting continued as I started my family and joined a neighborhood sewing group. Encouraged by my friends to take a class at a local quilt shop, I immediately fell in love with quilting on a whole new level when I discovered the creative outlet that came with piecing and applique. But I soon found myself frustrated at not being able to finish my quilts fast enough by hand quilting. Lacking the funds to pay someone with a quilting machine to do it for me, my solution was to start my own quilting business.
After purchasing a Handi Quilter longarm machine and taking a class, I soon found myself employed by Handi Quilter as a machine tester, where I was able to hone my longarm quilting skills. Five years later I became a Handi Quilter Educator where I had the opportunity to help teach quilters from all over the world during week-long retreats. After becoming pregnant with my last child, I returned home and began working once again at my own quilting business. For the last 8 years, I have enjoyed collaborating with clients to create amazing quilts that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional. Each quilt is a work of art and I feel honored that my clients trust me to be part of their creative process. I have also won several quilting awards from national quilt shows.
When I’m not quilting, I’m likely to be found running, hiking, painting, baking, reading, traveling, boating or camping with my family.
